PRACTICE CONCENTRATION AND EXPERIENCE

Paul Weidenfeld focuses his practice on False Claims Act cases, fraud investigations and Qui Tam (commonly referred to as “whistleblower”) lawsuits.  Mr. Weidenfeld has a rare combination of litigation experience and subject matter expertise in health law.  Prior to joining Liles Parke, he worked over ten years as a Federal Prosecutor, including two years as the “National Health Care Fraud Coordinator” for the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, Department of Justice.  Mr. Weidenfeld has also served as a Federal Public Defender and has been a Partner in one of the nation’s most prestigious law firms.   With this background, Mr. Weidenfeld brings a unique perspective to cases.  He has an unmatched understanding of the persons, agencies, and laws involved in virtually every litgation decision made regarding complex government investigations and cases. Mr. Weidenfeld’s experiences have taught him that there is no generic solution in the world of settlement or conflict resolution – he is well known for his ability to find innovative solutions to difficult litigation problems.

Mr. Weidenfeld’s extensive trial and appellate experience includes more than 50 trials (at least 25 were tried to a jury), 25 appellate arguments, and hundreds of motions. He also appeared before almost every Court including the United States Supreme Court, the Lousiana Supreme Court, the Federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeal, State Appellate Courts, and all levels of Federal and State trial courts. He has vast experience in criminal matters as both a Federal Prosecutor and as a Federal Public Defender.  On the civil side, Mr. Weidenfeld has represented both plantiffs and defendants.  He also has training and practical experience using Alternate Dispute Resolution to resolve a case.
