Practice Concentration and Experience: Mr. Laher brings a special kind of depth to business transaction and
corporate law. In these areas, his transnational experience affords his
clients the most efficient representation on matters involving non-US
nationals in US based businesses.
Mr. Laher began practicing law in complex litigation issues in South Africa
in the mid 1980’s. In his role at the firm of Rooth and Wessels, he was instrumental in litigating the buying and selling of South African
corporations, especially on the international market.
After a stint with the United States Office of Drug Control, Mr. Laher
became an associate at the firm Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue, where he was
responsible for representing major US entities in international banking
litigation and product liability suits. He handled a wide varied of
corporate matters, focusing on multinational issues. In addition to his
legal responsibilities, Mr. Laher was tasked with managing the firm’s case
management facilities to ensure that the resources of the firm for complex
litigation were being used appropriately and efficiently.
Following his work at Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue, Mr. Laher decided to
enter into private practice, forming the Laher Law Group in 1998. As head of
his own legal team, Mr. Laher focused his practice on business and corporate
issues, representing clients in business transactions, assisting clients
with strategic business planning and conducting both residential and
commercial settlements valued anywhere from $500,000 to $10,000,000. In
addition to his successful practice, Mr. Laher also lectures at regional
events, where he discusses topics of business immigration and complex
international litigation.
Mr. Laher now practices as an "Of counsel" associate at Liles Parker. In
this role, he works closely with David Parker to provide effective
representation of clients in a varied of business and corporate issues. With
