Practice Concentration and Experience:

A trial attorney whose practice focuses on sophisticated criminal defense and civil litigation, Mr. Pierce represents individuals and organizations – foreign and domestic – under investigation or prosecution by the US government and foreign countries. He also prosecutes claims for whistleblowers and victims of fraud perpetrated by corporations and financial institutions, and fights for clients involved in healthcare, commercial, securities, corruption, export control, and tax disputes.

After leaving the government in 2000, Mr. Pierce served as counsel to Dickstein Shapiro for three years in Washington, DC, representing corporations in antitrust litigation and other complex matters. He prosecuted antitrust claims worth $1 billion, defended corporate clients in commercial litigation, and conducted internal investigations. He opened his own practice in 2003 and founded Themis in 2010.

Mr. Pierce is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, several United States Circuit Courts of Appeal and District Courts, United States Court of Federal Claims, and is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, California, and Illinois. He serves as an officer of the Invisible Hand Foundation, is on the Student Life Advisory Counsel for Purdue University and was formerly General Counsel to The Board of Directors of The Woods Academy, a private school in Bethesda, Maryland. He coaches several youth sports teams in basketball and softball. Mr. Pierce graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Economics and received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
